Choosing a tutor with your child
The learner has to want the lesson. Involving them in the choice is the cheapest way to get that.
Why include them
A child who helped pick their tutor arrives at the first lesson as a participant rather than a conscript. That difference shows up in how much they get from it.
How to do it
- Shortlist two or three tutors yourself, on subject, level, availability, and price.
- Show your child the profiles and ask which one they’d rather meet.
- Book a free 25-minute trial with that tutor, where it’s offered.
- Ask your child afterwards whether the explanations made sense.
If they’re unsure
“I don’t know” after a trial usually means no. Try the other name on your shortlist.
